Are You Struggling with Addiction?

Addiction is a monster that perches on your shoulder and screams in your ear with the purpose of slowly destroying and ending your life.  When addiction is in your life, as the addict or the family or friends of an addict, you lose the ability to see ‘the big picture’.

Without noticing, you become so close to the sickness you lose sight of the insanity that your lives have become.  You may feel alone, terrified and completely in over your head.  When you’re this close to the bottom, it’s the right time to reach out for help.

In asking for help, you will feel a sense of relief brought by reaching out to a therapist who specializes in working with substance abusers and supporting family members of substance abusers.

In choosing to specialize in addiction work, I have dedicated myself to continuous education in the field of substance abuse, being employed as the Clinical Director of a residential substance abuse treatment facility in San Jose.

Lastly, immersing myself in psychoanalytic training allows me to provide a well-choreographed mix of evidence-based treatment with a rich depth-work that encourages my clients to make lasting change.

I can’t promise or guarantee 100% success all of the time, but I can guarantee that if you or your family member is willing to do the work, change will happen.

What can I expect from Addiction Counseling?

To begin, I will use our first 4-5 sessions to assess and evaluate what your ‘big picture’ is.   Once we’ve met for the assessment period, I will come up with a treatment recommendation.  At this point, we’ll dive in and begin working on your recovery.  I do incorporate a 12-step mindset in my addiction counseling.

How do I know if treatment is needed?

Oftentimes, people are unsure if they are their loved one has a ‘real’ problem. To assist with this uncertainty, please complete the following CAGE substance abuse assessment.

  1. Have you ever felt that you ought to cut down on your drinking or drug use?

  2. Have people annoyed you by criticizing your drinking or drug use?

  3. Have you ever felt bad or guilty about your drinking or drug use?

  4. Have you ever had a drink or used drugs first thing in the morning to steady your nerves or get rid of a hangover?

One more yes answers indicate a potential substance use problem and a more in-depth assessment is indicated.  Please contact me to begin the recovery process.

How affordable is addiction treatment?

Treatment is an investment in saving your or your loved one’s life, and I understand it can become expensive.  For clients I recommend multiple sessions weekly, I am willing to offer a lower fee per session.
